An Associate Degree in Environmental Science is a two-year undergraduate degree in which a student can enrol after graduation from secondary school. It provides technical skills and knowledge to the students which they can use to make a career and get jobs, and also study further on that basis, by getting enrolled in an undergraduate program, directly in the third year, though different criteria’s are followed in various colleges. It is meant to give a scientific background to a student to help in solving environmental issues by using various approaches. The course talks about natural resources, social concerns, environmental issues, economic issues etc. It seeks the process to protect the environment and sustainable growth and development.
Some features of this course are:
It concentrates on the relationship between the environment and the human beings.
Change in resources, land use, wildlife, population etc are studied under this course.
Solutions are worked upon for complex problems pertaining to the environment and social interests.
Policy-making and knowledge of environmental regulations are given.
Computer skills are taught to perform modeling and data analysis.
The curriculum focuses on environmental conservation, natural resources and sustainable development.
The course structure helps in equipping the students with institutional, economic, technical and behavioral solutions for the environmental problems.
An online associate degree helps in building the potential needed to work for the environmental issues and conservation, especially for the adults who can’t go to the college because of their busy schedules but desire to receive an excellent education. The medium of learning is through the media forum/platform. The course can be accessed from anywhere and is available anytime and students can watch pre-recorded lectures and interactive sessions. It saves a lot of time as learning can take place according to a student’s pace. All the information about the course and curriculum is available in one place. The online platform offers learning sessions which can be viewed later.

Principles of Biology- This subject talks about the principles on which biology was formed and how it has evolved as a field. It includes the study of natural resources, wildlife conservation, flora and fauna etc.
Environmental Science- As the name suggests, it talks about the relationship between the environment and the organisms. It integrates biology, chemistry, physics and many other sub-disciplines.
Behavioural and Natural Sciences- It explores the cognitive abilities present in the organisms and the behavioural contact and interaction between organisms.
Statistics –It is an application to environmental science for covering various statistical methodologies used for measuring the environment and changes occurring in it.
Botany- It is a science covering the study of the plants such as its structure, biochemical process and properties.
Zoology- Study of the organisms and animals is covered in zoology. It includes the physiology of animals, their behaviour, habitat etc.
Conservation Biology- It covers the reasons why biodiversity is affected in many ways such as maintenance, the science of evolutionary process and how it can be conserved.
Resource Management- It talks about managing the resources effectively and sustainable growth and development.
