Barry University Admission Process

Barry University accepts applications on a rolling admissions basis. However, it is in your best interest to apply as soon as possible. Please note that general admission to Barry University doesn't guarantee acceptance into all academic programs. Applicants who haven't attended a university and applicants who are coming to Barry with but 12 hours of transferable college credits are considered first-year applicants. First-year applicants are required to finish the subsequent application process:

  • Complete the online undergraduate application.
  • Submit the non-refundable application fee (free/online application, $30.00/paper application) made payable by check or money order to Barry University. Submit official transcripts from all secondary and post-secondary institutions.
  • Submit official SAT or ACT scores (applies to students under the age of 21). The Barry University code for SAT I: 5053; ACT: 0718.
  • If you've got completed a G.E.D., forward the official results of that examination and therefore the official high school transcripts documenting your education.

Most programs require a $30 nonrefundable application fee. This fee is waived for Barry alumni or those referred by Barry alumni. Following are the requirements to be met when applying to Barry University - 

  1. Transcripts - You must submit complete official transcripts from every college or university attended, regardless of whether or not a degree was completed. If you previously attended Barry University, you do not need to re-submit any transcripts already on file.

  2. Statement of Purpose - Submit a statement of purpose (goals) or career narrative statement as required by the specific school.

  3. Recommendations - Provide the required recommendations in support of the graduate study. Recommendations must be on either the Barry University recommendation form or official letterhead from the recommending institution.

  4. Test Scores - Supply current admission entrance examination scores (SAT, GMAT, GRE, LSAT, MAT, MCAT), as required by the individual school or program. In general, test scores older than five years will not be accepted.

  5. Other Documents - Submit any additional information required by the Office of Graduate Admissions or the individual school or program. Upon receipt of your application, you will be notified of any documents needed to complete your file.

  6. Permanent Resident Status - If you have permanent resident status, a copy of both sides of your Alien Registration Receipt Card ("green card") must be submitted to the Office of Graduate Admissions.

  7. English Proficiency - Applicants who do not give evidence of being native English speakers, including those applying for transfer from U.S. institutions, or who have not graduated from an institution where English is the primary language of instruction must submit test scores from one of the English language proficiency tests accepted by Barry University like TOEFL, iBT, IELTS.
