Chandler-Gilbert Community College (CGCC) Admissions

Chandler-Gilbert Community College (CGCC) is a public community college in Arizona, USA. CGCC has multiple locations in Arizona and is known for its strong program for Performance Arts. If you’re wondering about the CGCC admissions process, how to submit a CGCC application, and more about CGCC enrollment, read on. We’ll take you through the admissions process and help you feel prepared in applying to CGCC.

How to Apply to Chandler-Gilbert Community College?

Prospective CGCC students must follow a 4-step application process. Here are the steps required to apply to CGCC:

    1. Create a Student Account

To apply to CGCC for the first time as a new student, you must first create a student account on the Maricopa Online Portal. You’ll have to provide personal information such as your name, email address, social insurance number, address, citizenship status, emergency contacts,  and more. On the student portal, you’ll also be prompted to enter information about your education plans, including your intended degree and fields of study that you’re interested in.

    2. Determine Placement

For step 2, you’ll need a few documents, including high school transcripts, SAT score, ACT score, and GED certificate. These documents will help the CGCC admissions team determine your best course placement in English, Math, and Reading.

    3. Register for Orientation and Classes

CGCC’s Coyote Kickoff is a student orientation that helps new students transition into college life. You’ll get access to academic advisors and other resources to help you make the most of your academic life.

Step 3 also entails registering for classes. An academic advisor can help you map out your educational goals and help you decide which classes you’d like to take.

    4. Pay for Tuition

After registering for courses, you’ll have to pay your tuition fees. CGCC accepts all payment methods, including cash, credit, check, and scholarship or financial aid funds. They also offer monthly payment plans to make costs more manageable.

SAT Scores you need to get in

Although CGCC looks at your SAT score if you include it in your application, you aren’t required to provide it with your CGCC application. Since the SAT isn’t mandatory for CGCC admissions, there isn’t a lot of data about average SAT scores for CGCC applicants.

ACT Scores you need to get in

CGCC does not require ACT scores to be included in admissions applications. Similar to the SAT, students can choose to include ACT scores in their CGCC application; however, the college does not require it.

Estimated GPA Requirements & Average GPA

For admission into most colleges and universities, you usually need a strong GPA. However, CGCC isn’t one of those universities. CGCC does not have any GPA requirements for regular admission. Instead, they look at a student’s application holistically when considering them for acceptance.

However, if you’re interested in applying to CGCC scholarships, you might need to fulfill minimum GPA requirements.

Admission Requirements

The minimum requirements for admission to CGCC are:

  • High school transcript or GED
  • SAT/ACT/PSAT scorecard (optional)
  • Completion of placement test by designated Maricopa County Community Colleges District indicating you are at the appropriate college level for the course.

Many universities in the US incentivize students by helping them earn college credits by taking certain courses that are available for them in high school. Here are the names of some of such popular programs: AP Credit, CLEP (Credit for Life Experiences), and Dual Enrollment (also known as Dual Credit). As far as the policy of these credits is concerned, each college has a different one. The advantages of such programs include a shorter time to complete a degree, an increased chance of finishing a degree, and a higher GPA. Students who want to avail CLEP and AP credits can go to the website, collegeboard.org, and request to submit the scores to the college of their choice.
