Alternatively, the candidates can also avail of monetary benefits like student loans, apart from financial grants and scholarship schemes to pay for their studies. However, student loans attract a certain rate of interest at which the funds are borrowed. Moreover, the funds received through these loans will have to be repaid within a given timeframe. As mentioned above, there are various different types of financial aid and scholarships available to CU students. These are given below. 

  • Federal grant - Federal Grants are need based awards that do not need to be repaid. Pell grant, Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant, TEACH grant, Direct Subsidized, Unsubsidized and PLUS loans, and Federal Work-study are the Federal aids available for the students. Last year, 26 % students availed federal aid with the average amount being $ 5039.

  • Institutional Grant - Clarkson offers a wide range of institutionally funded Scholarships and Grants. The Office of New Student Financial Aid will offer you scholarships and/or grants depending upon your admissions application and your financial need as reported on your FAFSA. These awards do not require repayment and are renewable annually provided you are making Satisfactory Academic Progress in your degree program.  Clarkson Leadership, Clarkson Merit, Holcroft Alumni Recognition, and Clarkson FIRST are the Institutional Scholarships provided to the students. Last year, 100 % students availed institutional grants with the average amount being $ 32227.

  • Military aid - Post 9/11 GI Bill, Tuition Assistance program, Yellow Ribbon Program, Airforce Scholarships, Army scholarships, Clarkson ROTC Incentive Grant are the various Military Aid available.

  • State aid - If you are a New York State resident, you can apply for New York State aid online by using the New York State resident TAP application link on the FAFSA Submission Confirmation page. The New York State Higher Education Assistance Corporation (HESC) administers the New York Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) and other Scholarship Programs.  These are available for students who meet residence, income, academic, or other requirements, as established by state law. 34 % students availed state aid last year with an average amount being $ 2579.
