Louisiana State University and Agricultural & Mechanical College is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges. Financial Aid is awarded to incoming freshmen, transfer students, Louisiana residents, and out-of-state residents. 

Merit-based financial support for graduates is available through graduate research and teaching assistantships, fellowships, and tuition scholarships.

Scholarships

The university offers various types of Scholarships:

  • Stamps Scholarship provides students the chance to cover the full cost of attendance for four years. It also covers the resident value of Louisiana that reaches up to $33,000 per year and non-resident costs, which is approximately $50,000 per year. Students can gain additional $1,550 per year by participating in the President's Future Leaders in Research Program and a one-time use $1,100 laptop stipend.

  • The President's Alumni Scholars share the same properties as the Stamps Scholarships above, except that students can gain up to $2,000 stipend to study abroad.

Grants

Federal Grants

  • Pell Grant: A Pell grant is provided only to undergraduate students who require great financial assistance. The amount awarded will depend on their enrollment status.

  • Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG): The Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG) is provided to undergraduate students with financial need.

State Grant

 

  • Go Grant: The award is based on financial need. Students must be residents of Louisiana and should be enrolled in LSU on at least a half-time basis.

 

Institutional Grant

 

  • Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education (TEACH) Grant: The TEACH Grant program provides aid to students who are in financial need. Students should maintain a 3.25 GPA, and are willing to teach in a high-need field, at a low-income.

The average federal aid in  LSU is calculated according to the family income of the student. Depending on the financial aid available to the family or the student, the income bracket may either pay more or less than the overall average costs. 

The Federal aid for the family income ranging between $0 to 30,000 is a bit higher as the need is also high in that case so the aid provided is $20,730.Slight change is observed with the changing range from $30,001 to 48,000; the aid provided for it is $15,451.
