Students can avail of scholarships provided by the college, such as B&W Y-12 Scholarship, Chapter 105 - Memphis - Les Segar Memorial Scholarship, Dr. Richard Forrest & Ella Dudney Kelsey Memorial Scholarship, and Steven L. Coffey Memorial Scholarship, if they find educational expenses to be on the higher side. It is interesting to note that, every year, around 98% of students at RSCC receive some kind of financial aid, while the total amount of assistance/loans provided is $2,555,943. At RSCC, the total percentage of applicants who receive the Federal Grant stands at 56%. In comparison, 97% of the students are awarded the Student Grant, 11% get the Institution Grant, and 56% of the applicants receive the Pell Grant. Furthermore, the average aid for the Federal Grant receivers is $4,306, and the same stands at $3,393 for State Grant awardees and $3,304 for Institution Grant recipients. And, for the Pell Grant awardees, the average aid amount is $3,938. Among other things, the annual family income of the applicant plays a major role in determining the total financial aid they are actually eligible to receive. Apart from financial grants and scholarships, candidates can also avail of monetary benefits like student loans to fund their education. But, they should understand that student loans are borrowed at a certain rate of interest, unlike grants and scholarships. Moreover, the funds received through these loans will have to be repaid within a given timeframe. At RSCC, an estimated number of 4% of the applicants choose to go for student loans.
