As many as 62% of the students at TCCD get some sort of financial aid, and the total amount of assistance/loans provided is more than $24,048,932 in a year. At TCCD, the total percentage of applicants who receive the Federal Grant stands at 45%. In comparison, 60% of the students are awarded the Student Grant, 11% get the Institution Grant, and 45% of the applicants receive the Pell Grant. While the Federal Grant awardees receive an average aid of $5,392, the State Grant receivers and Institution Grant beneficiaries get $2,512 and $1,070, respectively. On the other hand, the average aid received by the Pell Grant awardees is $4,041. The annual family income of the applicants is also considered for determining the total financial assistance that they will be eligible for. Alternatively, the candidates can also avail of monetary benefits like student loans, apart from financial grants and scholarship schemes to pay for their studies. In contrast to grants and scholarships, student loans are taken by the candidates at a certain rate of interest. While grants and scholarship schemes do not require repayment, student loans should be repaid by the applicants within a given period. At TCCD, an estimated number of 7% of the applicants choose to go for student loans.
