Texas State University looks at all applicants holistically if they have an average of 75% in their high school courses. UT considers many aspects of the application, including:

  • High school curriculum
  • Leadership and community service
  • Personal essays
  • Extracurriculars

Funny enough, Texas State University’s admission site is quite encouraging for any candidates that don’t achieve admission. And, there’s a high UT transfer rate, at 77.9%. The school recommends that any drop outs or rejected applicants complete 30 hours of transferable credit at another college, and transfer to UT when their GPA is a minimum of 2.5.

Not all high school courses or programs are equal. Some are more difficult than others, and deserve extra credit. Examples of such courses are CLEP (Credit for Life Experiences), Dual Enrollment (also known as Dual Credit), and AP Credit. While each university has their own policy regarding extra credit courses, most offer the following benefits if you take them:

  • Higher GPA
  • Better chance at completing the degree
  • Shorter degree duration time
