Admission Process

There are many steps involved in the admission process. The steps to apply to UCLA are as follows:

Applying to the University of California, Los Angeles is quite easy.

Step 1

Create an account using an email and password. Please use a non-school issued email id as the college will be sending all the application related information on the registered id.

An email confirmation will be sent to your registered id.

Step 2: 

After creating your account, you will need to select the term you’re enrolling for and your candidate level(ex: freshman, transfer, etc).

Step 3:

In this step, there will be different sections.

The first section is  About you section in which you need to give information about you and your family, about your guardian(if any).

The second section is about academic history. You need to enter all the courses you have attended high school. Make sure you enter all the information referring to your transcript as this is important information and will be verified. 

The third section is the Test Scores. In this section, you need to submit your ACT/SAT scores whichever you have given. If both are given please see in which test your eligible for it and submit according to that.

AP Exams, IB Exams, TOEFL, IELTS: It will be required to enter in the next page of the same section. Report the test scores if you have taken any of it or planning to take it in the future. 

The next section is about Activities and Awards. This is the opportunity for you to get enrolled in the university if you are more active in outdoor activities. 

You'll require group every action/grant as one of six classifications: Award or respect, Educational arrangement programs (any projects that have enhanced your scholastic encounters or helped you get ready for school), Extracurricular movement, Other coursework (courses other than those required for UC affirmation/courses that don't fit in UC's A-G branches of knowledge), Volunteering/Community administration and Work Experience.

Scholarships & Programs:- Select the type of scholarship you wish to apply. You can apply to a number of scholarships there is no limit for it.

The last section is about Personal Insight in which you need to answer any 4 questions out of the 8 questions.

Review your whole application and submit it after you have reviewed the information entered by you as based on all this information your application will be accepted or rejected.

Undergraduate Admission Requirements

Every university, college, or school has some minimum requirement for the students to get enrolled in any educational institution. The University of California, Los Angeles has laid down the requirements to take admission in the university which are

  • High school GPA

For International Admission

Graduate admission requirements

UCLA has some additional requirements to be admitted into graduate school. The requirements are:

  • Copy of your transcript

  • Statement of Purpose

  • Letter of Recommendation

  • Graduate Record Examination(GRE) 


For International Students

  • Submission of your international transcripts.

  • If your first language is not English you need to submit your TOEFL or IELTS score as a part of your application.

  • Paper and pen test of TOEFL requires a minimum score of 560 or at least 87 on the internet-based test.

  • TOEFL institution code for UCLA 4837. TOEFL scores should be sent to your major department.

  • The minimum IELTS score should be 7.0 or higher.

  • Test for Oral Proficiency (TOP) score of 7.0 or higher is needed.


Transfer Student Admission Requirements 

UCLA uses a comprehensive review process that includes academic and personal criteria.

Academic Criteria

  •  Junior-level standing (60 semester/90 quarter UC transferable units completed) by the end of the spring term before you transfer.

  •  GPA of 3.2 or higher earned in all transferable courses. 

  • Progress towards completion of major preparation requirements by the end of spring prior to transfer. For more information regarding major preparation requirements.

  • Completion of the following by the end of spring prior to transfer: - 

  • Two (2) transferable courses in English composition/ critical thinking and writing.

  • One (1) transferable math course with a prerequisite of intermediate algebra or higher.

  •  Four (4) transferable college courses in at least two of the following subject areas: arts and humanities, social and behavioral sciences, physical and biological sciences.
