The cost of attendance at University of Denver, as we have realised, can be considered quite expensive. However, the university also provides a large array of financial aid options. The aids range from merit based scholarships to grants and even student loans. About 83% of the total number of students receive some kind of financial aid, the amount of which is a whopping $1,41,479,855. To be considered for any federal aid, you have to fill the FAFSA form.
Let's look at some of the gift aid options that are available to students of DU.
Scholarships
DU provides multiple merit based scholarships to its students. These are part of the gift aids, which means that the students do not have to return the amount that they receive. They are like gifts. Let's look at some of the scholarships:
- Crimson Scholarship: This is a graduate scholarship for DU seniors graduating in the spring or summer 2020 term and recent undergraduate alumni who graduated in fall 2019 or winter 2020 can apply for accelerated admission into an eligible master's program through the Crimson Application process.
- Chancellor Scholarship: This is an undergraduate scholarship, the award of which in the 2020-2021 session is $26,000 with an additional $3,000 of residence Hall Grant
- Talent Scholarships: these scholarships are awarded to students who are extremely gifted in the fields of athletics, music, theater, speech and arts.
Grants
Grants, like scholarships are part of gift aids too, and will not have to be returned. Let's look at some of the options:
- DU Educational Grant: This is an institutional undergraduate grant for students who keep a good academic track record and are in dire need of finances.
- Federal Pell Grant: As suggested by the name, this is a federal grant awarded to students who are in need of finances to complete their degree and do not possess any prior undergraduate or graduate degrees
- Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG):This is another federal grant that is generally awarded to students who are in exceptional need of finances and are already receiving Federal Pell Grant.
