Such schemes include Community of Learners Scholarship Program (CLSP), Midwest Student Exchange Program, North Dakota Scholars Scholarship, and Returning Student Scholarship. It is interesting to note that, every year, around 92% of students at UND receive some kind of financial aid, while the total amount of assistance/loans provided is $31,750,289. At UND, the total percentage of applicants who receive the Federal Grant stands at 18%. Meanwhile, 77% of the applicants receive the Student Grant and 66% are awarded the Institution Grant, while 18% of the students get the Pell Grant. While the Federal Grant awardees receive an average aid of $4,861, the State Grant receivers and Institution Grant beneficiaries get $2,220 and $3,790, respectively. And, for the Pell Grant awardees, the average aid amount is $4,025. The annual family income of the applicants is also considered for determining the total financial assistance that they will be eligible for. In addition to financial grants and scholarship schemes, students can also avail of monetary benefits like student loans to pay for their education. In contrast to grants and scholarships, student loans are taken by the candidates at a certain rate of interest. Moreover, the funds received through these loans will have to be repaid within a given timeframe. At UND, an estimated number of 60% of the applicants choose to go for student loans.
