University of the People follows a simple application and admission process that includes a total of 4 steps, which are as follows: Step 1: Submitting the application The first step which a candidate is required to make for admission at University of the People is applying to the university. Interested candidates can either apply online or by calling the university at (626) 264-8880. Alternatively, they can also directly visit the university's admissions office at All programs offered completely via Distance education. Otherwise, they can contact University of the People's admissions office by phone in order to take admission. Step 2 in the application process is acceptance by UP It should be noted by the candidates that submitting ACT and SAT scores is recommended but not mandatory at University of the People. Further, after submitting the form and depositing the enrollment fee, to receive their admission decision, students are required to submit the following documents:
Essay: Also known as the personal statement, the essay submitted by an applicant offers them a unique way to showcase their achievements and personality. It is advised that applicants include personal experiences and anecdotes as well.
Transcripts: Submitting the necessary high-school and university transcripts is an important part of the evaluation process. An applicant can use Parchment (or similar platforms) to submit the same.
Official Test Scores: As mentioned above, submitting SAT and ACT scores at UP is not mandatory and not all students submit them. Moreover, by submitting these official scores, a candidate can make a stronger claim for securing a seat at University of the People. However, additional documents or information may be requested once the applications are reviewed. In Step 3, the candidate needs to confirm their attendance The third step includes confirming their attendance to UP by the candidates. They will also be required to select their housing as well as complete their Financial Check-In process. Review and verification of Summary of Accounts and Financial Aid (scholarships, fees, and tuition costs), choosing a lodging option, selecting a payment plan, and making the first payment are some of the processes included in the admission at the varsity. Candidates will be required to complete the Math and English assessments before proceeding to register for classes. Step 4: Register for Classes The candidates have to register for courses once all the processes mentioned above are completed.
