Students can avail of scholarships provided by the college, such as Alice Ann Garner Scholarship, Amy L. McKee-Everett Memorial Scholarship, Birds Eye Foods (Brooks Foods) Scholarship, and Blackford Agriculture Scholarship, if they find educational expenses to be on the higher side. Interestingly, almost all of the students at WC receive some sort of financial aid, and the total amount of assistance/loans provided totals more than $3,882,966 in a year. More information regarding the financial assistance schemes can be accessed on WC’s official financial aid page at http://www.wabash.edu/finaid/. Notably, a total of 35% of the applicants to Wabash College receive the Federal Grant every year. In comparison, 100% of the students are awarded the Student Grant, 100% get the Institution Grant, and 35% of the applicants receive the Pell Grant. While the Federal Grant awardees receive an average aid of $4,862, the State Grant receivers and Institution Grant beneficiaries get $7,057 and $32,039, respectively. On the other hand, the average aid received by the Pell Grant awardees is $4,364. Among other things, the annual family income of the applicant plays a major role in determining the total financial aid they are actually eligible to receive. On average, students with an annual family income of less than $30,000 will obtain a federal aid of $37,398 per year. The average aid amount stands at $38,374 for an annual family income between $30,001 and $48,000. This amount comes to $36,387 for those who fall under the $48,001-$75,000 family income bracket. Meanwhile, the average federal aid for students in the $75,001-$110,000 income bracket is $30,553. And, for those with a family income of more than $110,000, the amount stands at $24,983. Apart from financial grants and scholarships, candidates can also avail of monetary benefits like student loans to fund their education. But, they should understand that student loans are borrowed at a certain rate of interest, unlike grants and scholarships. Moreover, the funds received through these loans will have to be repaid within a given timeframe. Every year, around 69% of the applicants to Wabash College opt for student loans.
