Students can avail of scholarships provided by the university, such as Abe and Annie Seibel Foundation Loan, Association of Information Technology Professionals Scholarship, Benjamin Gimp Raffkind Memorial Scholarship, and Children of U.S. Military who are Missing in Action or Prisoners of War (MIA/POWs) Exemption, if they find educational expenses to be on the higher side. As many as 90% of the students at WTAMU get some sort of financial aid, and the total amount of assistance/loans provided is more than $27,018,291 in a year. At WTAMU, the total percentage of applicants who receive the Federal Grant stands at 39%. On the other hand, 84% of the candidates get the Student Grant, 46% receive the Institution Grant, and 39% get the Pell Grant. Moreover, the average aid amount for Federal Grant awardees stands at $4,561, while the same comes to $5,109 for State Grant receivers and $2,505 for Institution Grant awardees. And, for the Pell Grant awardees, the average aid amount is $4,397. Among other things, the annual family income of the applicant plays a major role in determining the total financial aid they are actually eligible to receive. Alternatively, the candidates can also avail of monetary benefits like student loans, apart from financial grants and scholarship schemes to pay for their studies. But, they should understand that student loans are borrowed at a certain rate of interest, unlike grants and scholarships. Candidates are also required to repay these loans within a given period. At WTAMU, an estimated number of 50% of the applicants choose to go for student loans.
