Such schemes include Anthony Munoz Foundation Scholarship Fund, Dr. Allen Smith Memorial Scholarship, Education Foundation Scholarship, and Educational Assistance Commitment Grant. It is interesting to note that almost every student at WC receives some kind of financial aid, while the total amount of provided assistance/loans in a year is $6,378,101. Notably, a total of 47% of the applicants to Wilmington College receive the Federal Grant every year. In comparison, 100% of the students are awarded the Student Grant, 100% get the Institution Grant, and 47% of the applicants receive the Pell Grant. While the Federal Grant awardees receive an average aid of $4,877, the State Grant receivers and Institution Grant beneficiaries get $2,739 and $11,965, respectively. On the other hand, the average aid received by the Pell Grant awardees is $4,361. Among other things, the annual family income of the applicant plays a major role in determining the total financial aid they are actually eligible to receive. Alternatively, the candidates can also avail of monetary benefits like student loans, apart from financial grants and scholarship schemes to pay for their studies. But, they should understand that student loans are borrowed at a certain rate of interest, unlike grants and scholarships. While grants and scholarship schemes do not require repayment, student loans should be repaid by the applicants within a given period. At WC, an estimated number of 93% of the applicants choose to go for student loans.
