Students can avail of scholarships provided by the university, such as Anthony Munoz Foundation Scholarship Fund, Charles H. Hewitt Memorial Scholarship, Dr. Allen Smith Memorial Scholarship, and Educational Assistance Commitment Grant, if they find educational expenses to be on the higher side. It is interesting to note that, every year, around 90% of students at WSUMC receive some kind of financial aid, while the total amount of assistance/loans provided is $35,047,300. At WSUMC, the total percentage of applicants who receive the Federal Grant stands at 37%. On the other hand, 75% of the candidates get the Student Grant, 53% receive the Institution Grant, and 37% get the Pell Grant. While the Federal Grant awardees receive an average aid of $4,854, the State Grant receivers and Institution Grant beneficiaries get $2,172 and $4,852, respectively. On the other hand, the average aid received by the Pell Grant awardees is $4,889. Among other things, the annual family income of the applicant plays a major role in determining the total financial aid they are actually eligible to receive. In addition to financial grants and scholarship schemes, students can also avail of monetary benefits like student loans to pay for their education. But, they should understand that student loans are borrowed at a certain rate of interest, unlike grants and scholarships. Candidates are also required to repay these loans within a given period. At Wright State University-Main Campus, the percentage of candidates who opt to avail of student loans is around 62%.
