National American University (NAU) believes in providing education to everybody; working adult, transfer student and veterans, which is why NAU has an open enrollment policy.

Admission Requirement

Admission Requirement for Undergraduate Degrees

The requirements to apply for an undergraduate degree at National American University:

  • A completed Student Application Form for Admission.
  • Graduation from a recognized High School with Transcripts.
  • A minimum cumulative 2.0 GPA with at least two years of post-secondary education.
  • The request for the official transcript must be done during the application process.
  • Students who have gained secondary education outside the United States, United States Territories, or Department of Defense-recognized U.S. High Schools should provide supporting evidence during the first term.
  • The following documents can be submitted as proof:
    • An Official Transcript provided for completion of the equivalent of the U.S High School. International Transcripts may include marks sheet or examination results. These transcripts must show the subjects studied each year. If the transcript is not in English, it must be submitted with certified English translations.
    • The original General Education Development (GED) report with passing marks.
    • An Official Transcript of a completed Post-Secondary program of at least minimum two years with at least a 2.0 GPA or equivalent from a recognized institute. Transcripts should show marks and credits from the post-secondary program. If the transcript is not in English, it must be submitted with certified English translations.

Background Clearance

National American University provides a number of academic programs that lead to certification or license in any certain field. A background check for a criminal record may be implemented before providing a certificate or license. Background Clearance is done before beginning the course with a proper agency or authority.

Finances

All students; in-state students and out-of-state students pay the same tuition and fees. All fees are due and payable on the first day of each quarter. Admission Requirements for Graduate Programs

  • Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Master of Management (MM)
    • A minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a recognized university. Transcripts from other universities will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
  • Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA)
    • A minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a recognized university. Transcripts from other universities will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) - School of Nursing
    • Quarterly, the Master of Science Nursing (MSN) program reviews the applications and grants admission to students who meet the admission requirements.
  • Admission Criteria are as follows:
    • A bachelor’s degree program in nursing from a recognized university.
    • An active registered nurse (RN) license from any state in the United States.
    • Minimum GPA of 3.0 in the bachelor’s degree.
    • International nurses should have an active registered nurse license for the practice. And an International Professional Evaluation of their education.

Admission Requirements for International Students

Internationational students who wish to study at National American University in an undergraduate program have to satisfy the following requirements:

  • Completed International Student Application for Admission.
  • Transcripts of completed secondary and/or post-secondary education through one of the following requirements:
    • An academic transcript with official credential evaluation from the country where the secondary education was pursued. The documents submitted should be those which allow the students to progress to the post-secondary education. Transcripts must show subject studied and the marks/grades awarded to the subject passed. All transcripts must be submitted to National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) approved credential evaluation service. The credential evaluation report must be directly sent to NAU.  Copies of all the evaluated documents must be submitted with the original evaluation report.
    • A General Educational Development (GED) test score with passing marks.
  • Proficiency in English can be satisfied with one of the following requirements:
  • The test score of Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) with a minimum score of 520 for paper-based, 190 for a computer-based, or 68 for an Internet-based exam. The test must have been taken less than two years ago. Official test scores have to be sent to National American University directly from the testing agency when requesting the test score make sure to provide the university code of 6464.
  • The test score of Test of English for International Communication (TOEIC) with a minimum score of 750 except for students enrolled in the nursing program.
  • The test score of International English Language Testing System (IELTS) with a minimum score of 5. The test must have been taken less than two years ago. Official test scores have to be sent to National American University from the testing agency.
  • Provide transcripts of two semesters (or equivalent) of college-level English with a minimum grade of “C” from a recognized college whose medium of instruction is English.
  • Provide transcripts of English language proficiency by Accuplacer ESL with a minimum score of:
    • 120 or higher in Reading Skills.
    • 100 or higher in Sentence meaning.
    • 95 or higher in Language usage.
    • 5 or higher in a Writing sample.

Financial Aid for International Students

Government-sponsored or financial programs are not available to international students. International students may have sponsorships from their home country, students contact their country’s consulate or embassy for information. International students can also obtain private sponsors.


Non-Native English Speaking Students Requirements

In addition to the basic requirements, National American University requires Non-Native English Speaking Students to prove their command over the language. This can be satisfied by one of the following requirements:

  • The score report for Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) with a minimum score of 520 on a paper-based test, 190 on the computer-based test, or 68  on an Internet-based test. The TOEFL exam must have been taken less than two years ago. The University code (6464) must be provided when requesting TOEFL test scores.
  • The score report for Test of English for International Communication (TOEIC) with a minimum score of 750 except for the students enrolled in the nursing program.
  • The score report for International English Language Testing System (IELTS) with a minimum score of 5. The IELTS exam must have been taken less than two years ago. Official score report must be sent from the IELTS testing agency to the National American University.
  • Transcripts of completion of two semesters of college-level English or equivalent with a minimum grade of “C” from a recognized University whose medium is English.
  • Test Score of Accuplacer ESL English assessment with a minimum score of:
    • 102 or higher score in Reading Skills.
    • 100 or higher score in Sentence meaning.
    • 95 or higher in Language usage.
    • 5 or higher in a Writing sample.

In addition to the above documents, NAU may request further documents to support the application. The documents submitted during the application process is university property and will not be returned to the applicants with few exceptions. Altering, Tampering or Fraud of a transcript, test score report, diploma or any documents submitted for admission will be deemed as an act of dishonesty resulting in the in denial of admission to National American University.
