About the Scholarship

Graduating high school seniors with a grade point average of 3.5 or higher who are residents of an eligible state may apply for this award. Applicants must be of Portuguese descent or be enrolled in a Portuguese language class in high school. Eligibility Criteria

This award is for U.S. students. Must be of Portuguese descent OR be currently taking Portuguese language classes in high school. Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher if currently enrolled in a Portuguese language class, OR 3.5 or higher if of Portuguese descent. Must be a resident of one of the nine states where LALIS (Luso American Life Insurance Society) has license. The nine states are the following: California, Connecticut, Idaho, Massachusetts, Nevada, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Rhode Island. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
