About the Scholarship

This scholarship is available for New Jersey high school seniors who reside in designated high-need communities and plan to attend an eligible New Jersey institution. Students must rank in the top 5 percent of their high school class and have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher; students must also demonstrate financial need as calculated by HESAA. Application requirements for the NJ Governor’s Urban Scholarship Program are:Eligible students automatically considered FAFSA

Eligibility Criteria

This award is for U.S. students. Must be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen. Must be a permanent New Jersey resident for at least 12 consecutive months immediately prior to receiving the award. Must plan to enroll full time in an approved degree or certificate program. Must rank in the top five percent of his/her graduating class as of the end of his/her junior year of high school. Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher as of the end of his/her junior year of high school. Must plan to attend an approved New Jersey college or university. A list of approved institutions is available at www.njgrants.org. Must reside in one of the following New Jersey communities at the time of high school nomination: Asbury Park City; Camden City; Irvrington Township; East Orange City; Jersey City; Millville City; Plainfield City; Lakewood Township; City of Newark; New Brunswick City; Paterson City; Roselle Borough; City of Trenton; Vineland City.In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:Sign Up To View
