Eligibility Criteria

This award is for U.S. students. Must be a full-time student at a four-year institution. Must be a U.S. citizen (or a U.S. national from a Pacific Island), or must expect to receive citizenship by the date that the scholarship is awarded. Must plan to pursue a graduate degree in public service and be committed to a career in public service. Students should have an extensive record of campus and community service, committed to a career in government or the nonprofit and advocacy sectors, and have the skills necessary to become a change agent (excellent communication skills). The Foundation defines public service as employment in government at any level, uniformed services, public-interest organizations, non-governmental research and/or educational organizations, public and private schools, and public-service oriented nonprofit organizations such as those whose primary purposes are to help needy or disadvantaged persons or to protect the environment. Potential fields include law, public administration, public health, social work, education, public policy, or international affairs. Must have a college junior-level standing, or a senior-level standing in his/her third year of college enrollment, or be a senior and resident of Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands or a Pacific island.
